Abstract
The form of gear teeth surfaces such as those of Gleason type which only
approximately fulfill kinematic conditions of meshing, are considered. The
general mathematical expressions are discussed, which relate the tooth surfaces of
two mating gears and the cutting surfaces of their respective cutters in the
machine tool. Mathematical synthesis is viewed as the solution of a set of vector
equations of contact, velocities and surface curvatures of the contact area.
